Australia Emerges Victorious In Ashes Cup Women’s T20I Series

For the first time in the cricket Women’s Ashes series the Multi-Format games were planned. In this series the teams had to play a test match, and three ODI’s and three T20I matches before the winner could be announced.

Right from the very first match of the series Australia had been dominating the series and had been successful in keeping the England team under pressure. The series started with the one day series on 2nd July 2019. The England team won the toss and elected to bowl first. The outclass batting by the Australian player Meg Lanning 133* in just 63 deliveries was enough to boost the confidence of the rest of her team members who played well and took the score to a reasonable total of 226 at loss of just three wickets.

The under pressure team of England who had lost all hope of drawing the series batted pathetically and were able to make just 133 runs at loss of 9 wickets at the completion of 20 overs. The whole team of England could just equal the runs made by a single player of Australian side who had broken her own previous record of making the highest runs in T20 format of the game. Among the Australian bowlers Megan Schutt took 3 for 25 runs, and Ellyse Perry was the next to follow with 2 wickets for just 11 runs, and Jess Jonassen took 1 for 21 runs.

If you have a look at the England Women’s cricket team you will notice that the highest scorer among their team was Lauren Winfield who made 33 of 27 balls followed by Katherine Burnt who made 29 of 22 balls and stayed not out. If we look at the stats of the English Bowlers we see that Kate Cross took 1 for 28 runs and Sophie Ecclestone took 2 wickets and gave away 42 precious runs.

In the second T 20I match of Women’s Ashes series the Australian team yet again displayed their talent to the world and played fearlessly to beat England by seven wickets. This match was held in the city of Hove at county ground stadium on Sunday 28th July 2019. Earlier in the game England won the toss and decided to bat. England player batted really bad and lost 8 wickets on just 121 runs in the limited over match. Tammy Beaumont was the higher scorer from England who was able make 43 runs the rest of the runs were made by the other seven players of the England side. The Australian bowlers also did a splendid job with Ellyse Perry took one wicket for 17 runs and Megan Schutt bowled four overs took only one wicket and gave away 26 runs. The most prominent bowlers from Australian side were Jess Jonassen who took 2 wickets and gave just 19 runs, this fact made her the most economical bowler from Australian side; Georgia Wareham also took 2 wickets at loss of 22 runs. Delissa Kiminice also took one wicket and gave away 21 runs.

Looking at the batsmen of the winning side you will notice that Ellyse Perry made 47 not out and the skipper Meg Lanning made 43 not out. They made these runs in just 17.5 overs and defeated England by 7 wickets.

The result of the third and last T20I was much unexpected as it was won by England. This match was played on the 31st of July 2019 at county ground Bristol, England. The Australian team won the match and elected to bowl. In the first Innings England made 139 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in the 20 overs. Lauren Winfield was the best batsman as has made 26 runs not out followed by Katherine Brunt who was 25 not out at the end of 20th over. Among the prominent bowlers of England team Katherine Brunt giving 21 runs and Sophie Ecclestone giving away 22 runs took 3 wickets each and Mady Villiers took 2 wickets.

The Australian team could not bat well and scoring form the very start of the match was very slow. The best batsman from Australian side was Ellyse Perry who made 60 and remained not out till the end of the game. this was the only T20I match that England had won.

Australia won the Ashes cup with 10-2 lead form England.
