Injured Jason Roy is Set to Miss Next Two Games of England
Jason Roy and Eoin Morgan are on the edge for serious doubts for England’s coming ICC World Cup fixture against Afghanistan on Tuesday at Old Trafford as these two men facing serious injuries on their leg and back respectively.
Jason Roy, the opening batsman, is set to miss next two World Cup fixtures of England but some hope still shines that captain Eoin Morgan will be fit enough to take charge and face Afghanistan on Tuesday.
Roy, who has already made one century and one fifty at Cricket World Cup 2019, got his hamstring injured during England and West Indies match on Friday.
Morgan also stopped during fielding in the Southampton after the eight-wicket win as he sustained a back spasm.
Due to his injury, Roy has been ruled out of Tuesday’s fixture against Afghanistan at Old Trafford as well as the match on Friday against Sri Lanka at Headingley.
According to ECB, Jason Roy who left the field during West Indies’ inning in ICC World Cup on Friday because of his hamstring injury has an MRI scan in London on Saturday. The MRI confirmed a hamstring tear. Therefore, consequently, he will be reconsidered on a constant basis this week. He is about to miss the next two matches of England against Afghanistan on June 18th and Sri Lanka on June 21st.
In terms of Morgan’s injury, has also undergone a scan and received further treatment at the weekend. The spasm has healed slightly and will be monitored over the next 24 hours before the next match of England against Afghanistan which is held tomorrow on Tuesday at Old Trafford, Manchester.
Considering the rest of the cricket tournament, England’s team is without their first-choice reserve opener, Alex Hales, was dropped from the squad after the news that he failed a drug test.
Roy’s beginning to this season was delayed due to his hamstring tear. It is, in fact, uncertain if the issues are associated.
